Some Remarks Concerning Trichophyton proliferans

Summary: We have had the opportunity to study an dermatophyte isolated from the face of a woman, as a result of a fall on the ground. We identified the strain as Trichophyton proliferans whose characteristics, together with a review of the works published about this dermatophyte, lead us to believe that we are dealing with an independent species and not a synonym of T. mentagrophytes var. erinacei . Zusammenfassung: Das Pilzisolat von der Dermatophytose einer Frau, die sich beim Sturz auf den Erdboden infiziert hatte, wur‐de von uns als Trichophyton proliferans identifiziert. Seine Charakterisierung und die Durchsicht der zu diesem Dermatophy‐ten veröffentlichten Literatur belegen un‐sere Ansicht, daß es sich bei diesem um eine selbständige Art und nicht urn ein Syn‐omym von T. mentagrophytes var. erinacei handelt.
