The In Vitro Determination of Lingering Antimycotic Effect of Two 1% Omoconazole‐Nitrate Cream Formulations Following Single Topical Application/In vitro‐Versuche zur Bestimmung der antimykotischen Wirkungsdauer von zwei 1%igen Omoconazolnitrat‐Cremes nach einmaliger topischer Anwendung

Summary: 18 healthy volunteers were treated with a single dose of Omoconazole‐Nitrate 1% cream on their skin. The treated area was covered with a covering bandage. Tape strippings were taken at various intervals of time from the once treated skin and applied onto the surface of a substrate, previously inoculated with a dermatophyte. The lingering effect of omoconazole‐nitrate in epidermis was determined by the degree of inhibition of growth of fungus under the tape. The investigation showed that the lingering antimycotic effect of omoconazole‐nitrate 1% cream remained in all cases for at least 48 hours. Zusammenfassung: 18 gesunde Probanden erhielten eine einmalige Behandlung mit l%iger Omoconazolnitrat‐Creme. Das behandelte Hautareal wurde mit einem Verband abgedeckt Nach verschiedenen Zeitintervallen wurden vom behandelten Hautareal Abrisse mit Heftstreifen durchgeführt und diese auf die Oberfläche eines vorher mit Dermatophyten inokulierten Substrates gelegt. Die Wirkungsdauer des Omoconazol‐Nitrates auf der Epidermis wurde anhand der Stärke der Inhibierung des Pilzwachstums unter dem Heftstreifen bestimmt. Die Untersuchungen zeigen in allen Fällen eine antimykotische Wirkungsdauer der 1%igen Omoconazolnitrat‐Creme von mindestens 48 Stunden.
