Investigations on the Chemotactic and Phagocytic Activites of Circulating Monocytes in chronic Dermatophytosis

Summary: In patients with chronic dematophytosis elevated total serum IgE levels were found (<450 in 36, >450 in 32, and >1000 in 27 patients). The elevated IgE levels were associated with lower T‐cell counts. The chemotactic and phagocytic activities of monocytes were examined in 24 and 23 patients, respectively. In some patients decreased activities were found, however, this fact showed no correlation with the total serum IgE levels. The intradermal delayed trichophytin response was positive in 5 of the 50 cases only. An immediate response was frequently found in padents with elevated IgE levels. Zusammenfassung: Bei Patienten mit chronischer Dermatophytose den erhöhte Serum‐IgE‐Konzentrationen gefanden (<450 bei 36, >450 bei 32 and >1000 bei 27 Patienten). Die erhöten IgE‐Konzentrationen singen mit erniedrigten T‐Zellzahlen einher. Die chemotaktische und die phagozytotische Aktivität der Monozyten konnten bei 24 bzw. 23 Patienten untersucht werden. Bei einigen Patienten wurden Einschränkungen dieser Funktionen gefunden, jedoch konnte keine Korrelation mit den Serum‐IgE‐Konzentrationen hergestellt werden. Bei der intrakutanen Testung mit Trichophytin wurde nur bei 5 von 50 Patienten eine Spätreaktion gefunden. Demgegenüber traten bei Patienten mit erhöhten IgE‐Konzentrationen häufig Solortreaktionen nach Hauttestung auf.
