Chromomycosis ‐ Report of Two Cases Successfully Treated with Local Heat Therapy

Summary: Two patients with chromomycosis presenting as an erythematous scaly plaque on a nipple are reported, who were successfully treated by local heat therapy using a pocket warmer. The strain of Fonsecaea pedrosoi isolated from a patient was killed after incubation for 18 days at 42°C and after 6 days at 45°C. Effectiveness of local heat therapy for chromoycosis is discussed. Zusammenfassung: Zwei Patienten mit Chromomykose die sich als erythematöse schuppende Plaques an der Brustwane manifestierten, wurden erfolgreich durch örtliche Hitzeanwendung mit einem Taschenwärmer behandelt. Ein Stamm von Fonsecaea predrosoi der von einem Patienten isoliert worden war, wurde nach 18‐tägiger Exposition bei 42°C und nach 6‐tägiger Exposition bei 45°C abgetötet. Die Wirksamkeit der örtlichen Überwärmungstherapie bei Chromomykose wird diskutiert. Chromomykose
