Barley mild mosaic virus (BaMMV) has been purified by a new procedure and some molecular characteristics of the RNA studied. Results summarized in this paper suggest that, although BaMMV and barley yellow mosaic virus are different viruses, they share many features in common. BaMMV should, therefore, be classified in the baymovirus group of the Potyviridae.
