An isolate of potato X potexvirus (PVX) was recovered by mechanical inoculation from diseased Tunisian artichokes. The virus was successfully reinoculated to artochoke seedlings. It was identified on the basis of reactions of herbaceous hosts, particle size and morphology, serology, and cytopathology.
