A serum‐free medium (medium A 6 ), supports the primary isolation and cultivation in vitro of corn stunt spiroplasma (CSS). The growth characteristics of CSS in A 6 medium are similar to those in the conventional serum dependent, ketoglutarate sorbitol medium (SMK).
