Summary The movements of two young male soles introduced into net enclosure located in a saltmarsh were recorded over a 3‐day and 5‐day period by means of an acoustic emission location device. A description of the tracking system is provided. The results illustrate the performance of the device and demonstrate the prospects for its use in fish behavioural research.
