. Cultural Entomology : A new branch of entomology is presented. It is called cultural entomology and defined as investigation that addresses the influence of insects in the humans practice for the nourishment of the mind and soul, arts and humanities. The ethnoentomology is concerned with all forms of insect human interactions in so‐called primitive societies. It is not included but consideres applied entomology. This definition is discussed. A new journal for documentation and information is started of which two issues are published hitherto. The contributions to it are reported. Zusammenfassung Ein neuer Zweig der Entomologie, die sogenannte ‘Kulturelle Entomologie’ wird vorgestellt. Sie ist definiert als Wissenschaft vom Einfluß der Insekten auf das kulturelle Leben des Menschen. Die ‘Ethnoentomologie’ ist kein Synonym für ‘Kulturelle Entomologie’ sondern ein Zweig von ihr. Sie befaßt sich mit allen Formen der Insekt/Mensch‐ Beziehungen in den sogenannten ‘primitive societies’. Diese Definition wird erörtert. Ende 1992 wurde eine neue zweimal jährlich erscheinende Zeitschrift ‘Digest Cultural Entomology’ zur Dokumentation und Information gegründet, von der bisher zwei Hefte erschienen. Ihre Beiträge werden erörtert.
