Influence of host individuals of Lymantria dispar L. (Lep., Lymantriidae) on the pathogenic properties of the homologous nuclear polyhedrosis virus LdNPV kub. “Virus‐clones” were produced in 20 separate larvae of L. dispar and applicated to larvae of the nun moth. It could be demonstrated that these “clones” had very different infectivity against L. monacha. The genetical heterogeneity of this virus‐particles of Ld NPV kub. is obviously influenced by single individuals of the main host L. disparZusammenfassung Aus 20 Einzeltieren von L. dispar wurden separate „Klone” des Virusstammes Ld NPV kub. gewonnen. Eine Applikation dieser Viruschargen an getrennte Raupenkollektive des Fremdwirts L. monacha ergab sehr unterschiedliche Infektionsraten für die Ansätze. Die Virulenz des offensichtlich genetisch heterogenen Virusstammes Ld NPV kub. wird also durch einzelne Individuen des Hauptwirtes L. dispar beeinflußt.
