Arthropod antagonists of Pyralis farinalis (L.) (Lep., Pyralidae) and visitors of its larva shelters 1

The development and distribution of Pyralis farinalis (L.) are limited by unfavourable climatic factors that reduce the growth of fungi, yeasts and bacteria on which larvae feed and by the activity of a group of arthropod antagonists found in larval shelters (in all 9 species) or emerged from isolated larvae and pupae of the moth (in all 4 species). The combined action of these factors considerably reduce the activity of this pyralid. Zusammenfassung Arthropoden als Antagonisten von Pyralis farinalis (L.) (Lep., Pyralidae) Die Entwicklung und Verbreitung von Pyralis farinalis wird zum einen durch ungünstige klimatische Bedingungen begrenzt, die das Wachstum von Pilzen, Hefen und Bakterien—den Nährsubstraten der P. farinalis ‐Larven—beeinträchtigen; zum anderen durch Arthropoden, die als Antagonisten an den Aufenthaltsplätzen von Larven gefunden worden sind oder aus isolierten Larven und Puppen schlüpften. Diese beiden Faktoren bewirken gemeinsam eine beträchtliche Reduktion von P. farinalis .
