Biological activity of mixtures of Bacillus thuringiensis varieties against some cotton pests

Investigations have been carried out to explore the activity of different combinations of Bacillus thuringiensis varieties vs. the cotton leafworm Spodoptera littoralis, S. exigua and Heliothis armigera. Some of the combinations used showed an obvious synergism, while others showed an independant action. Results obtained with mixed culture methodology are still preliminary but they showed that a kind of interactions or competition occur between the different varieties. Zusammenfassung Zur biologischen Aktivität von Bacillus thuringiensis‐Varietäten gegen einige Baumwollschädlinge Verschiedene B. thuringiensis‐V arietäten wurden einzeln und in Kombination gegen die Raupen von Spodoptera littoralis, S. exigua und Heliothis armigera getestet. Einige der Kombinationen zeigten deutliche synergistische Effekte, während andere unabhängig wirkten. Die mit Mischkulturen gewonnenen Ergebnisse haben noch vorläufigen Charakter, zeigen jedoch, daß zwischen den Varietäten bestimmte biologische Aktivitäten bestehen.
