Zur Verbreitung und Lebensweise des Kastanienrüßlers ( Curculio elephas Gyll., Col.: Curculionidae) in Ungarn

As to the spreading and manner of life of Curculio elephas Gyll. (Col.: Curculionidae) in Hungary. 1. Spreading, damaging, swarming and sex proportions The chestnut proboscidean Curculio (Balaninus) elephas Gyll. is one of the most important damaging insects of the chestnut fruits. Since our knowledge concerning bionomy, ecology and economical of the pest is incomplete and contradictory, studies were made on these questions during ten years. The authors are going to give an account of their results in two parts. The first part deals with home spreading and economical importance, factors that exercise an influence on the degree of infection ‐ the swarming course of the imagines and the methods that are applicable for observing the swarming course ‐ and finally the nocturnal moving activity and sex proportions of Chestnut Curculio. Zusammenfassung Der Kastanienrüßler, Curculio (Balaninus) elephas Gyll. gilt als einer der wichtigsten Schädlinge der Edelkastanienfrüchte in Ungarn. Da unsere Kenntnisse über die Verbreitung, wirtschaftliche Bedeutung und Lebensweise dieses Schädlings mangelhaft und z. T. widersprechend waren, wurde mit 10jährigen Untersuchungen beigetragen, die Erkenntnisse hierzu zu erweitern und zu vertiefen. Die Ergebnisse sollen in zwei Teilen dargestellt werden. Im vorliegenden 1. Teil werden vor allem die Verbreitung in Ungarn, die wirtschaftliche Bedeutung der Species, die das Befallsausmaß beeinflussenden Faktoren und der Schwärmgang der Imagines behandelt. Daneben werden Angaben über die nächtliche Bewegungsaktivität sowie das Geschlechterverhältnis gemacht
