Larvae of the Egyptian cotton leaf worm, which is a well known polyphagous insect, were not previously reported to feed on Cynanchum acutum (Asclepiadaceae), were found feeding on leaves of this species. Members of the Asclepiadaceae are known to contain toxins which limit their insect parasites to few species. The larvae of S. littoralis completed their life cycle on C. acutum . However, the generation period was longer than on other plants.
