Studies on effect and formulation of the Trypodendron attractant “Lineatin” (±) 3,3,7‐trimethyl‐2,9‐dioxatricyclo (3.3.1.0 4,7 ) nonane (“lineatin”) proved highly attractive at low concentrations to populations of T. lineatum in the Black Forest area near Freiburg i. Br., Germany. Also T. domesticum , a closely related pest of hardwoods, was attracted by lineatin. Catches of T. lineatum doubled when ethanol and α‐pinene was added to the lineatin. The trap design influenced the sex ratio of beetles responding to lineatin per se. Flight barriers caught female beetles at a ratio of 0.4 but perforated cylinder traps were less frequently entered by the females.
