During the cotton seasons of 1974 and 1975, a survey was carried out to examine the list of parasitoids of the cotton leafworm Spodoptera littoralis. Five parasitoids were found parasitising the immature stages of the pest. Four of them belonged to order Hymenoptera and the 5th was from order Diptera. Certain field and laboratory observations on Euplectrus laphygmae Ferr. (Hymen., Eulophidae), and Strobliomyia orbata Wield. (Dipt. Tachinidae) were recorded. The parasitoid Microplitis rufiventris Kok. (Hymen., Braconidae) proved to be an effective solitary larval parasitoid on S. littoralis in cotton fields in Egypt; it was more capable of tolerating the adverse conditions than its host.
