Studies on the predatism of the lady bird beetle, Menochilus sexmaculatus (F.) on bean aphid, Aphis craccivora Koch., treated with antifeeding compounds

Three antifeedants viz. triphenyltin acetate, triphenyltin hydroxide, triphenyltin chloride were sprayed on bean aphid Aphis craccivora Koch. and fed to the lady bird beetle, Menochilus sexmaculatus (F.) to study their effects on the predatism. It is observed that triphenyltin hydroxide and triphenyltin chloride were not in any way affecting the normal predatism while triphenyltin acetate reduced predatism significantly. Zusammenfassung Untersuchungen über den Einfluß von Fraßhemmstoffen auf die räuberische Wirkung des Marienkäfers, Menochilus sexmaculatus (F.) auf die Bohnenblattlaus, Aphis craccivora Koch Es wurden 3 Fraßhemmstoffe: Triphenylzinn Acetat, Triphenylzinn Hydroxid, Triphenylzinn Chlorid, die gegen die Bohnenblattlaus, A. craccivora , gesprüht waren, hinsichtlich ihres Einflusses auf den Marienkäfer, M. sexmaculatus , untersucht. Dabei wurde beobachtet, daß Triphenylzinn Hydroxid und Triphenylzinn Chlorid ohne Einfluß blieben, daß jedoch Triphenylzinn Acetat die räuberische Tätigkeit von M. sexmaculatus signifikant negativ beeinflußte.
