Hylotrupes bajulus (L.) in hardwoods in West‐Africa A beetle of Hylotrupes bajulus (L.) emerged from wood of Khaya ivorensis A. Chev., collected in a timber jard in the rainforest area of Ivory Coast. It is discussed whether the occurrence of this species in hardwoods is confined to the var. lividus Muls. with brown elytrae; this could not be proven so far. Zusammenfassung Ein Käfer von Hylotrupes bajulus (L.) entwickelte sich in Holz von Khaya ivorensis A. Chev. aus einem Holzlager im Regenwaldgebiet der Elfenbeinküste. Fraglos gelangte der Hausbockkäfer dahin mit Verpackungsmaterial aus Deutschland. Es wird erörtert, ob das Auftreten der Art in Laubhölzern auf die braunflügelige var. lividus Muls. beschränkt ist; bewiesen werden konnte das bisher nicht.
