Acoustic sexual signals of Ceratitis capitata Wied. and Dacus oleae Gmel. The acoustic sexual signals of the two fruit flies were analysed by the same method on individual couples. Whereas the males of D. oleae produced only a single signal during courting, those of C. capitata produced two (and distinct) successive signals. The signals probably serve either to test the willingness of the females to copulate or else stimulate them to do so. Copulations without preceding signals have not been observed. Zusammenfassung Die akustischen Sexualsignale von Dacus oleae und Ceratitis capitata wurden bei Einzelpaaren nach der gleichen Methode untersucht. Während die Männchen von D. oleae bei der Werbung ein einziges Signal erzeugten, sind es bei C. capitata zwei aufeinanderfolgende und voneinander sehr unterschiedliche Signale. Vermutlich dienen die Signale der Prüfung oder Erzeugung der Paarungswilligkeit der Weibchen. Paarungen ohne vorhergegangene Signale wurden nicht beobachtet.
