The age of the maize plant at which initial and maximum leaf‐miner infestation occurred

Maize was sown in each year, 1966 and 1967, on 12 successive dates for the determination of the age of the maize plants at which initial and maximum leaf‐miner infestation occurs. The obtained data revealed that maize plants at the age ranging between 34 and 55 days are more susceptible to infestation with Pseudonapomyza spicata. On the other hand, the initial infestation could be detected in plants younger than two weeks old. Zusammenfassung Über Beziehungen zwischen dem Alter der Maispflanzen und Minierfliegen‐Befall 1966 und 1967 wurde an je 12 sukzessiven Daten Mais gesät und nachfolgend der Befall der Pflanzen durch Blattminier‐Fliegen untersucht. Im Alter von 34 bis 55 Tagen zeigten die Pflanzen den stärksten Befall. Andererseits wurde Initialbefall bereits bei weniger als 2 Wochen alten Maispflanzen beobachtet.
