Histopathological Effects of Certain Insecticides on the Malpighian Tubules of Hieroglyphus nigrorepletus Bol. (Acrididae: Orthoptera)

Pathological effects of sodium silicofluoride, endrin and lindane as stomach poisons have been investigated on the cells of malpighian tubules of H. nigrorepletus . Both sodium silicofluoride and lindane caused severe damage to the malpighian tubules cells in about 16 hours following the ingestion of these poisons, however, endrin was less effected. The pathological changes to the cells may cause disturbance in the normal physiology of these vitally important system of insects. Zusammenfassung Histopathologische Wirkungen verschiedener Insektizide auf die Malpighischen Gefäβe von Hieroglyphus nigrorepletus Bol. (Acrid.: Orth .) Es wurden die Wirkungen von Kaliumsilikofluorid, Endrin und Lindan unter Applikation als Magengifte auf die Malpighischen Schläuche der Heuschrecke H. nigrorepletus untersucht. Kaliumsilikofluorid und Lindan verursachten deutliche Schäden an den Schlauchzellen etwa 16 Stunden nach Aufnahme der Gifte. Dagegen zeigte Endrin weniger deutliche Wirkung. Die pathologischen Veränderungen der Zellen führen möglicherweise zu Störungen der normalen Tätigkeit dieses Organs.
