Studies on Chemical Control of Cotton Leaf Worm, Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.), on Sweet Potato in U.A.R.

Chemical control against different instar larvae of Egyptian cotton leaf worm was carried out using different spray equipments in Alexandria and Domiat Provinces. Back motor sprayer and Ground motor sprayer were the most suitable sprayers for application according to the results obtained from all investigations. DDT‐Sumithion, Sumithion and Gardona were the most promising against different instars of Egyptian cotton leaf worm. Zusammenfassung Versuche zur chemischen Bekämpfung von Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.) an Süßkartoffel in Ägypten In den Provinzen Alexandria und Demiat wurden Bekämpfungsversuche gegen verschiedene Larvenstadien von S. littoralis durchgeführt. Der „Back motor sprayer” sowie der „Ground motor sprayer” erwiesen sich bei diesen Untersuchungen als geeignetste Ausbringungsgeräte. DDT‐Sumithion, Sumithion sowie Gardona waren die wirksamsten Pestizide zur Abtötung der S. littoralis‐Raupen.
