Some Ecological Aspects of the Soft Scale Lecanium acuminatum Signoret (Coccoidea)

The microclimatic temperature for Lecanium acuminatum on the sunny leaves of Mangifera indica rose above the air temperature and the greatest difference recorded was 9°C, while on the shady leaves, there was a close agreement between the air temperature and the microclimatic records. L. acuminatum has one annual peak of seasonal abundance in October–November. Studies on the average annual fluctuation and the quotient of Zusammenfassung Zur Ökologie der Schildlaus Lecanium acuminatum Signoret Die Mikroklima‐Temperatur, welcher Lecanium acuminatum auf den Blättern von Mangifera indica ausgesetzt ist, lag bei Sonnenblättern maximal um 9°C über der Luft‐Temperatur, während Luft‐ und Mikroklima‐Temperatur auf den Schattenblättern ungefähr übereinstimmten. L. acuminatum hat zwei Generationen im Jahr und erreicht im Oktober/ November seine höchste Populationsdichte. Untersuchungen über die mittlere jährliche Fluktuation sowie über den Vermehrungs‐Quotienten zeigten, daß das Temperatur‐Luftfeuchte‐Optimum des Schädlings bei 23,8–25,7°C und 63 % rLF liegt.
