A Remarkable Case of Zoocenosis (Hyalopteritena pruni) with some Comments upon the Feeding Habits of Sphecoidea and Apoidea 1

Summary Based on the results of his examinations concerning peach trees badly attacked by aphids the author describes the construction of the Hyalopteritena pruni community and reveals that out of the praesocium populations rich in species may join the catena as temporary elements. He points out that a single individual may ‐ in its various semaphoront phases ‐ play varying roles within a given community. Finally he calls attention to the unusual feeding habit of sphecoids and apoids resp. These insects may, due to the partial or complete want of host‐flowers, find food on the honeydew produced by aphids. Zusammenfassung Auf der Grundlage einer zoozönologischen Untersuchung von mit Blattläusen besetzten Pfirsichbäumen beschreibt der Verf. die Struktur der Wirtsgemeinschaft von Hyalopteritena pruni. Er zeigt, wie sich aus der artenreichen ”Praesocium„‐Gemeinschaft als temporärere Form eine artenarme ”Catena„‐Gemeinschaft entwickelt. Ein einziges Individuum kann in seinen verschiedenen ”Semaphoront„‐Phasen innerhalb der Artengemeinschaft verschiedene Rollen spielen. Bemerkenswert ist eine Ernährungs‐Anpassung der Specoiden und Apoiden: bei vollkommenem oder partiellem Mangel an Nährpflanzen (Blumen) decken sie ihren Nahrungsbedarf aus dem Blattlaus‐Honigtau.
