Factoring out common terms in the mixed model equations

Summary In the coefficient matrix of the mixed model equations (MME) for the multiple trait animal and reduced animal models of animal breeding there is considerable repetition of some coefficients. This paper describes how some of these common terms can be factored out when iterating for solutions. As a result considerable savings in computation are possible. Zusammenfassung Ausklammern gemeinsamer Größen in Mischmodellgleichungen In der Koeffizientenmatrix gemischter Modellgleichungen (MME) für Mehrmerkmals‐ und reduzierte Tiermodelle gibt es beträchtliche Wiederholungen einzelner Koeffizienten. Die Arbeit beschreibt, wie solche gemeinsame Größen für Iteration herausgenommen werden können. Es können beträchtliche Recheneinsparungen erzielt werden.
