I. Abstract Diurnal and temporal variations m water potential were significant and these parameters were positively correlated with grain yield and biological yield. Variations in osmotic potential and pressure potential did not provide any clue about osmotic adjustment. Negative turgor was also observed specially under water stress condition and later stages of plant growth. Water potential was positively and significantly correlated with grain yield. Osmotic potential showed high and significant correlation only at terminal stage. Pressure potential was positively correlated with yield.
