Field study indicates that initial infiltration of puddled soil was higher by 1.1 mm/h and the final infiltration rate decreased by 0.6 mm/h, when compared to nonpuddled soil. The clod of larger size and soil moisture was found to be more in puddled soil. However, seedling emergence was maximum under nonpuddled soil.
