By polymerase chain reaction, mycoplasmalike organisms (MLOs) were detected in several declining trees of Quercus robur sampled at two locations of Germany. The MLOs associated with declining oaks were, within the 16S rDNA studied, genetically uniform and closely related to the MLOs associated with European stone fruit yellows and apple proliferation.
