Callus cultures of Populus × euramericana cv. ‘NL‐B‐132’ derived from stem and leaf tissue were compared for their content of abscisic acid and defense reactions against the basidiomycete Phaeolus schweinitzii . The callus from stems showed higher ABA‐contents and a more pronounced defense reaction in comparison with leaf callus.
