The effects of chlorine water on mesophyll cells of Scots pine ( Pinus sylvestris ) were studied with light and electron microscopy. The treatment caused necrotic flecks formed by collapsed cells. Less injured cells showed increase in number of plastoglobuli, swelling of the thylakoids and vacuolization of the cytoplasm.
