Morphological and biological characterization of pine‐infecting Melampsora spp. in Europe . The main different features between Melampsora pinitorqua and M. larici‐tremulae are described: spore morphology (basidio‐, ccio‐ and telio‐spores), biology (teliospores maturity) and pathogenicity (on larch and pine). The characterization of M. pinitorqua is based on epicotyle infection of pines ( P. sylvestris or P. pinaster ).
