Subcortical mats of Ceratocystis fagacearum were found to become readily overgrown by Pesotum piceae . Thus by reducing the chance of contamination of insect vectors with spores of the pathogen P. piceae is likely to contribute to the low efficiency of oak wilt transmissions.
