Studies of fine roots and biotic activities in the rhizosphere of silver firs affected by dieback . The studies were focused on the fine roots in order to describe mycorrhizal associations in their natural habitat and especially any pathological symptom. Some biotic activities of short root complexes and of the perirhizosphere were determined. In the soil horizons enzymatic activities were markedly influenced by fine roots. A positive correlation between ectomycorrhizal short roots and the enzyme content has been observed.
