Influence of different organic materials on the initiation and growth of rhizomorphs of Armillariella mellea (Vahl) Karst. in the soil. The influence of different types of organic material on the initiation, growth, and branching of subterranean rhizomorphs of Armillariella mellea (Vahl) Karst. was studied under experimental conditions. Substances rich in lignin and cellulose stimulate rhizomorphic growth while reducing the number of rhizomorphs and their degree of branching. Substances rich in starch and organic nitrogen reduce both the growth and initiation of rhizomorphs, sometimes to a great extent.
