Localisation of sulphur in spruce needles treated with SO 2 . After exposure to SO 2 the tips of spruce needles arc richer in sulphur compounds than the bases. The accumulation of sulphur compounds results mainly in an increased content of inorganic sulphur. The analytical results explain the local occurrence of injuries at the needle tips.
