The Occurrence of the Perfect Stage of Potebniamyces coniferarum (Hahn) Smerlis on Douglas Fir . The perfect stage of Potebniamyces coniferarum (Hahn) Smerlis is recorded on Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco. This is both the first record of apothecia in Germany and also on this host. Identity of the fungus is based both on disease symptoms and comparison of fruit bodies and ascospores with published descriptions. Identity was confirmed by the production of the imperfect stage ( Phacidiopycnis pseudotsugae ) on malt agar and on sterilised twigs of Douglas fir, pine and larch.
