This paper reports the social behavior of two groups of captive Lemur variegates. An intensive three‐month study provided baseline data. This was supplemented by two years of follow‐up observations. Various components of the captive behavioral repertoire are described. Data on feeding behavior, vocalizations, grooming, agonistic interactions, sexual behavior and infant development were collected.
