Summary: The present scanning and transmission electron microscopic observations of the terminal vas deferens of the cat have revealed that the epithelial cells, like luminal macrophages, are not only involved in the removal of spermatozoa as previously reported but also capable of taking up actively the latex beads injected to the lumen. In addition, orchidectomy has been shown to do not have any remarkable effects on the ability of the epithelial cells for phagocytosis of beads. Zusammenfassung: Phagozytose der Latexperlen von den Epithelzellen in der terminalen Region des Vas deferens der Katze: Raster‐ und transmissionselektronenmikroskopische Untersuchung Die vorliegende raster‐ und transmissionselektronenmikroskopische Untersuchung an dem terminalen Vas deferens der Katze hat gezeigt, daß die Epithelzellen wie luminale Makrophagen nicht nur an der Beseitigung der Spermatozoen beteiligt sind, sondem auch zur aktiven Phagozytose von intraluminal injizierten Latexperlen befähigt sind. Außerdem wurde festgestellt, daß die Orchidektomie keinen merkbaren Einfluß auf diese Phagozytosefähigkeit der Epithelzellen ausübt.
