Summary The arterial vascularization of the intestines of the muskrat ( Ondatra zibethicus ) This study is based on dissection of 12 adult muskrats whose arteries were injeced with latex. The main branching patterns of the cranial and caudal mesenteric arteries for the different segments of the gut are described. The position and the branching of the arteries of the muskrat are comparable to those of the laboratory rat and the American beaver. In general, the distribution patterns are reminiscent of the laboratory rat and less so of the American beaver.
