The aim of this study was to investigate the form and structure of the different parts of the gastrointestinal tract of the hyraxes and to ascertain whether some parts show typical genus‐dependent differences in one or the other of the three hyrax genera. We also tried tO homologize particularly the ascending colon of the hyraxes with its unpaired and paired diverticula with that of the domestic mammals. For the macroscopic and microscopis study 17 Procaviae, 9 Heterohyraxes and 5 Dendrohyraxes were used.
