Taking into account the date of experimental embryology and the rules of semantics, a classification and nomenclature of conjoined twins is proposed. The terminus Gemini conjuncti which stresses the two essential characteristics of twinning and conjunction, describes monstruosity as a whole. The authors divide it into orders, suborders, tribes, families, genera and varieties. In the order called Gemini conjuncti aequales (monsters with equal components) they distinguish 3 sub‐orders to the area of conjunction: Gemini conjuncti craniales, Gemini conjuncti medii and Gemini conjuncti caudales . Each of those sub‐orders contains 3 tribes according to the modalities of union. The words stressed for families and genera that compose each tribe precise modalities and extension of conjunction. In the order Gemini conjuncti inaequales (double monsters with inequal components) the authors distinguish 2 sub‐orders, externi and interni , whether the parasitic subject is deeply or superficially ingrafted on its host. The words stressed for tribes and families precise localisation and extension of conjunction. For genera word indicate morphology of the parasitic subject.
