SUMMARY It has been shown that Rb + efflux from Rb + loaded yeast cells is almost unaffected by the concentration of Rb + in the medium, whereas the influx rate of Rb + into the yeast cells increases largely on increasing the external Rb + concentration. It is possible to describe the kinetics of Rb + net transport by the electrokinetical formulism provided that a non linear diode like model is chosen in preference to a varistant one.
