During investigations on the nitrogen metabolism of tomato plants, knowledge of the qualitative and quantitative composition of the carbohydrates of various organs and tissues of these plants proved to be indispensable. As far as the author is aware no detailed data are available on the composition and distribution of .the carbohydrates of the tomato plant. It is the purpose of this paper to report briefly some results which were obtained in a number of analyses of various parts and tissues of the stem-main root axis of ihe tomato plant.
