This paper presents a method of measuring, in monetary terms, household damage caused by ground subsidence. First, definitions of costs and benefits of households under uncertainty are identified and mm pa red with other proposed definitions. The measuring method involves applying the Logit Model to data on housing choice, which has been obtained from a paired comparison questionnaire survey. The method utilizes Neumann‐Morgenstern's maximum expected utility principle. A case study of selected ground‐subsiding arcas in Japan is carried out using this proposed method.
