The complete amino acid sequence of the light chain of human high‐molicular‐mass kiningen has been determined. The peptide chain contains 255. Nine carbohydrate attachment sites were found. All carbohydrate side chains are O ‐glycosidically linked. Alignment of the present sequence with the bovine kininogen light chain sequence shows a high degree of homology, except for an extension of 22 amino acids within the histidine‐rich part of the sequence. The histidine‐rich region may have arisen by gene multiplication during evolution.
