The crystallization properties of the hemolysate and of the purified hemoglobin components from Wistar rat have been studied under various experimental conditions. The results suggest the existence of hemoglobins in the crystalline state even within the red blood cells. However the functional properties of rat erythrocytes are identical to those of whole hemolysate in solution.
