4‐Deoxy‐ d ‐ arabino ‐hexose has been identified as a constituent of the four Citrobacter sero‐types 4, 23, 27 and 36a. Its structure was evaluated by the aid of mass spectrometry and gas liquid chromatography in comparison with known deoxyhexoses.
