. A remarkable Japanese family, in which the propositus, his mother, and his maternal aunt have the rare p phenotype, is reported. The anti‐P+P 1 (anti‐Tj a ) antibodies were classified as IgM by the indirect antiglobulin technique. Red cells of the propositus were examined for the activity levels of several enzymes and glycolytic intermediates and were tested for glutathione stability, autohemolysis, osmotic fragility, and lactate production. All were within normal limits.
