. A fully automated device for temperature‐controlled freezing of cell suspensions is described and compared with a commercially available apparatus and with a manual technique. The results obtained with the new machine, when used to freeze lymphocytes was superior to those of the two other methods both with respect to the amount of liquid nitrogen required for a freezing cycle, easiness to handle and freeze‐injury to the cells.
