. A red cell preservative medium is described for the long‐term storage of laboratory panel cells. It was found that the addition of purine bases as well as lipid‐free albumin helped to prolong the storage of panel cells for at least 4—5 weeks at 4°C. An almost undiminished expression of many known blood group antigens on the red cells was observed.
